Ian studied at UCT and UNISA, qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 1994 and became a client of Netto Invest soon thereafter. Recognising an opportunity to use his professional background to help clients make good financial decisions, Ian joined the company as a shareholder in 1999 and assumed the role of MD in June 2014. Ian is currently the company's Chairman.

Prior to joining Netto Invest, Ian’s work experience included three years in Cape Town, playing a pivotal role in the successful turnaround of a national retail chain and three years in London working in structured finance at the Lloyds Bank Group, where his responsibilities included statutory reporting and taxation compliance for about 70 companies.

Ian is a member of the Financial Planning Institute (FPI) and the South African Institute for Chartered Accountants (SAICA). In 2007 he was awarded the esteemed Financial Planning Institute Planner of the Year Award, the ultimate recognition in South Africa for excellence in Financial Planning.

Ian has presented at both the Personal Finance Financial Planning Club, the Financial Planning Institute’s Annual Convention and is often requested to share his expert advice appearing on CNBC Africa, ETV, 702 Talk Radio and contributing to articles in Personal Finance, Business Day and Finweek.

Ian has strong analytical abilities and in-depth local and international experience in finance and tax and is passionate about guiding clients to make informed investment and financial decisions. The work of his support team plays an integral part in this process.

As part of Netto Invest’s sustainable business vision, Ian promotes mentoring the graduates who join Netto’s development programme to ensure that they strive to achieve their full potential.
